Sanctuary Home – Senegal

A Home Designed for Wellbeing and Connection

In this project, the clients envisioned a home that truly cares for their wellbeing , a place that feels intimate yet spacious, calm yet connected. As artists and mindfulness practitioners, they desired an introverted retreat without isolation from daily life.

We designed the house around a central patio, featuring a micro indoor garden that diffuses natural light and creates a gentle sense of openness. The patio acts as a bioclimatic, functional, and sensorial heart, regulating airflow and temperature while enhancing the home’s emotional atmosphere.

From the kitchen garden that reuses greywater throughout the house, to the low-maintenance landscape of native trees providing shade and privacy, every element contributes to a sustainable and regenerative living environment.

The artist’s studio terrace opens toward a Miyawaki forest, offering inspiring views and attracting a vibrant community of local birds, a daily reminder of the home’s harmony with nature.

We approached the entire project as a living ecosystem, where each orientation, garden, and view is thoughtfully designed to create a continuous dialogue between inside and outside. Every space is connected to natural light, air, and greenery, nurturing a sense of belonging and presence that extends beyond walls.
